Altlindenau borders Neulindenau to the east and extends to the Elster flood basin. It thus also includes part of the Leipzig Auenwald forest and borders the Palmengarten to the south. Lindenauer Markt is considered the centre and is home to numerous shopping opportunities as well as weekly market days. The cultural scene here is also very diverse.
